Fine Marquetry has enjoyed a noble place in the history of Art. From the times of the Egyptian Pharaohs to the Italian Renaissance, artisans made wood inlay an integral part of royal treasures. Completely made in America, our artisans are among the few groups of skilled craftspeople still practicing the art of marquetry.
Artisans begin the creation of each artwork with an original fine line illustration. The illustration is then converted into a final line drawing serving as a blueprint. Various woods are carefully selected with an eye for the natural grains and hues of the veneers that will give warmth and subtle shading to the finished work. The veneers are precision cut, then assembled and finished by hand with either teak oil or lacquer and framed to form a masterful piece of marquetry art of unmatched beauty and elegance. Since wood tones vary and each piece is hand finished, each image is one-of-a-kind. Our artisans participate in the Hardwood Forestry Fund. For the equivalent of every tree used in the marquetry, ten more are planted.
